FOZ WINS ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

FOZ WINS ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE picture

The Championships were held at round 4 of the Caersws Cup with a array of weather conditions, from a closed down track on the Saturday to a dried out fast track by race runs on Sunday. With the hillside now treeless and no way of stopping if your were to go off track with riders in practise going through the safety barriers leading to further maitenance work throughout the Saturday. Early Sunday the track was washed out with no grip in any sections due to the constant down pour throughout the night. Willis was addoment on switching to drys for his race run and myself beeing his mechanic was un-sure of this decission as he hadnt tried them all weekend. His first race run was real fast untill taking off the bomb hole step down to find a bike on the landing surrounded by spectators, carrying the speed off the jump there was now way possibble to avoid the carnage on the track and rode straight over the bike and hit a dead stop some how managed to cling on to his bike, luckilly the marshall was present and a re-run was given. Foz come down ahead of everyone with only the National Champion to follow after a re-run due to a similar incident but cudnt find the extra 3 seconds Foz had put into the field. With a clear sky and a pit area filled with tyre changes Foz knew the other racers would all be going faster with the track drying out fast and with the 2010 National Champ Graig Taylor looking to improve on his slower re-runned time and 2009 English Champion David List hungry to retain his title. Taylor had found 4 seconnds but it still wasnt enough, List had somehow gone 1.02 into the lead with only Foz left it was going to be close riding with a broken seatpost coming across the line 2 seconds faster then his first run time beating List by a 0.55 of a second and crowned the new 2010 English Champion. Big up Fozstar from all at the H.Q and congratulations on your new title. Full review on the event and video check out http://www.pinkbike.com/news/English-Champs-2010.html

FOZ TAKES THE TOP STEP AGAIN

FOZ TAKES THE TOP STEP AGAIN picture

After his first win of the season 2 weeks previous, Foz showed that he can beat the best yet again by taking the win at Round 5 of the Pearce Cycles Downhill Series held at Hopton Castle, near Craven Arms. The new 2010 National Champion was present aswell as last years National Champion, Midland Champion and English Champion, showing that Foz can mix up with the countrys top boys. Following Foz down the course it showed that he had it well dialled, taking all the straight lines that looked like they wernt even there and if there was a different line choice ... guaranteed that Foz's Flatline World Cup was all over it nearly taking the spectators out at one point he was going that high on one of the blown out loamy rutted corners. He looked liked he was just having fun flowing down the track smoothly and carrying more speed through sections than that I had seen from anyone else, even whipped out wide on the last step down to cut up tight across the tapes on the grass finish straight which not many at all were managing to get no where near. Foz came down in 2nd place after his first run closely behind Chris Derry who had returned to raise the bar which he had done in his first run but Foz raised the level again going somehow almost 4 seconds quicker taking the victory. His time was up there in the experts and top of seniors. Congratulations champ and best of luck for the last 3 meetings of the season form all at the P Yates Cycles HQ. More pics up in Gallery.

Alex Hamer 2nd In National TT Event

Alex Hamer 2nd In National TT Event picture

Up and coming superstar Alex Hamer has finished up in second place at the 10 Mile Time Trial National Event. 15 Year old Hamer set a blistering time of 25.08 but wasnt quite enough to stop the fastest junior in the country on the K33s Circuit in Warwickshire, 23rd of May. Alex Hamer sponsored by P Yates Cycles and rides for the Severn Velo Club has been competing on the TT circuit the last couple of seaons and has been pretty untouchable in his age group. Unfortunately Alex's trainer was diagnosed with Cancer last year and since Alex has continued where he left off and by himself and is progressing up through the ranks rapidly showing his true talent, skill and determination. Alex will concentraing on all the regional and national events throughout the season and hopefully when his trainer is up and running again Hamer can start making a real name for himself amognst the adults next season. Well done and best of luck Alex.
