COAST TO COAST CHARITY RIDE

COAST TO COAST CHARITY RIDE picture

The third week in September saw Richard Yates, Mike Cooper, John and Nathan Wagstaff all set off to complete the gruelling cycle ride which is 140 long hard hilly miles on and offroad. Richard my Old Chap came down with a serious chest infection the week before the ride and there were fears that the group would have to pospone the ride due to his illness but the group battled through the gruelling challenge and completed it in 4 days. John(beetroot juice)Wagstaff is a newcomer to the cycling world but rode realy strong and enjoyed the experience that much is planning a next journey. Nathan a keen fitness fanatic I think found it was just a walk in the park and with Mike beeing a keen competeive cyclist was in his element and enjoyed the Cafe stops while my Dad just looked forward to getting to the next pub and sampling the real beers and ales. Anyway they did the event to raise mony for the fantastic Young Persons Unit in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where I have been treated for this year for Leukaemia. The unit is a fantastic facility which looks after cancer patients between the ages 18-25 and you couldnt ask for a better place to treated. The group have raised around about the two thousand pound mark so far and would personally like to thank everyone for beeing so generous and warm hearted. Photo's from the ride are in the gallery section. Thank you all so much and my heart be with you. Peter Yates

MIDLANDS FINALS ROUND 5 BUCKNELL

MIDLANDS FINALS ROUND 5 BUCKNELL picture

With alot talk behind the back of this all new all new exciting track, it was clear that the sheep were flocking to this for some sneaky sessions with this beein the grand finale of the year. From what I heard up to the event it was going to be a fast one with plenty of variety of loamy line choice and large ones everywhere, SWEET. Sunday funday had arrived and I'd managed to gather a few members of Foz's fan club together to show him a bit of support, big up. Its allways nice turning up to a fresh venue not knowing what to expect, but walking the track was mega impressed with its looks and speaking to the wrecking crew they were saying how awesome it was riding.
Local large footed Youth ripper Luke G was rippin it up as usual finishing up in a impressive 14th place out of almost 40 in his catergory. Foz Willis threw in the aces in a huge wildcard approach taking fastest time in his first run. Foz knew he could go quicker in his second run and that everyone else wanted those last Finals. The man was fyling it large untill crashing before the large step down into the berm, the quickest section of the track. He managed to pick up some time on the rest of the track though only only finishing 3 seconds down on his first run putting him 3rd overall and under 1.5 second off the lead, SO CLOSE.
